Title: dog ripped my surr. sound off stand and now it has no power =x
Post by: lsasqwach on April 13, 2009, 23:55:49
my dog went behind my tv stand and ripped my surround sound receiver down to the ground. now there is no power. i decided to look at my receipt and it was 3 days after my warranty expired, Mad to make matters worse, i lost my job and now don't have enough money to get it fixed so i was wondering if there was a way i could troubleshoot it and possibly fix it myself with some help from friendly people! the model is a JVC TH-L1. when i plug it in no power comes on. any help or tips to get started would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Hello there,
Unless you are an experienced repair person, these compact HTIB are quite difficult to fix, even with the right tools and proper schematics. It's probably not economical to get repaired commercially either. So you are in a difficult situation. But if you still want to try, start looking for the service manual. In addition you need the basic tools including a DMM, soldering iron and so forth.
Good luck
