Hello, I have 80Gb samsung HDD(IDE) with OS(XPsp2). As there was not enough space ,i wanted to resize the C: partition . One of my friend suggested me to use Norton Partion Magic.I tried to resize the partition and tried to merge E:and F: After this windows rebooted and it was just trying to load windows but not possible. Now again I tried to reinstall windows with windows Cd , all windows files got copied on HDD but did not start, the screen remained blank.I tried to put this HDD in other PC and tried to format it with windows CD, When the option for boot from cd appears,(PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD),the keyboard command is not accepted.even up down keys also does not operate. (KEY BOARD IS FINE). What mess is done by me ? Please guide me. Thanks Regards

Hi !
Try to boot from cd without the hdd connected to the computer just to check if it's working ... If it's ok you may have a boot virus or partition magic installed a boot manager on your hdd ... just a guess ... anyway ... if you have a live CD like Win miniPE and an external box for hdd start with the live CD and after connect the external box with your hdd in it to USB and try to use some disk managers from that CD to erase partition(s) ... if you manage to erase any partition you have created on the hdd it should be ready for installing windows in normal way ...
Let me know how it worked ... Good luck !

Hi TAMMU !
Well, it seems that you have no problem with the computer, motherboard or bios ... if I remember correctly the windows setup CD is able to "see" USB hdd ... so, you can try to partition and format the hdd with it if you don't find the Win miniPE live CD. In case that you cannot see the hdd check the bios for options like USB support - enabled or USB boot ... etc. If you manage to see the hdd, partition and format and you still have the problem than maybe you have a hardware related issue with the hdd.
Regards !

As per a computer expert,I have made bootable (CD)kill disc. In bios CD rom is made as 1st boot device.I have updated bios from MSI motherboard site. Bios is successfully updated. Now when I try to boot from Kill Disc Cd,the start up screen appears and to select desire option, in this stage if I try to press down key to select an option, the keyboard doesnt respond.(In normal windows this keyboard functions very well). This phenomenon occures only when HDD is loaded with windows XP.If I put a hdd without OS, the keyboard responds.and also I can access the hdd to unerase or erase option.Even if I put windows XP bootable cd and when it prompts to press any key to boot from CD,the keyboard doesnt responds and it boots from hdd and windows starts.(this works well with new HDD or HDD without an os). What conflict is created after Nortion partition magic,I cant understand.Pls advice,Thanks

Hi !
First of all it might be better to try to find miniPE liveCD or something similar ... (I found it on torrent) ... use the utilities built in (partition magic (the original) or paragon disk manager) to try repartition or format the disk ... if it doesn't work try a disk wiper and wipe the hdd ... this may take a lot of time but in this way you will be shure that nothing will remain on the hdd ... after this operation is complete the hdd should be usable ... if not then it might be something wrong with the hdd ... try to use the appropriate disk utility from the manufacturer of the hddd web site ... ex.(Maxtor have max blast, Seagate have disk manager, etc) ... run the utility to perform a diagnostic test ... choose the thorough test not the quick... if the manufacturer utility reports some problem post here the errors ...
Good luck !
