Anybody have any idea about U99 error in DMR-E51? The fault is in digital PCB.(confirmed by swapping ).Since panasonic didnot give schematic of any digital PCB,it is difficult to locate the faulty components. Can somebody guide me to solve this problem?
Thanks

Hello Tammu,
I think that this model is not for EUROPE but I think that the explanation for error codes are same for models in EUROPE and in ASIA.
So the error U99 is :
Displayed when microprocessor has hang-up
or better explanation
Displayed when communication error has
occurred between Mainmicroprocessor and Timer microprocessor

Regards and have a nice weekend

Thanks Peter for reply. Is there any way to solve this problem? Also since the U99 is immidiatly diplayed after plug in power, firmware update disc does not work.
May be some IC failure but not sure about the problem ,
whether Hardware problem or software problem is not confirmed.Only confirmation is Digital PCB is faulty and according to Panasonic only solution is to replace digital pcb (as according to them this pcb is not repairable).Digital PCBs are not at all available even with Panasonic service centres in India.
Thanks and regards

Hello Tammu,

I have just uploaded for you on sharefx(29.06.2008) SM for PANASONIC DMR-E50 ,I know that this recorder is not E51 (I have no experience with E51) but I think that they are very similar.
Carefully look in page 7.1 SERVICE EXPLORER EXPRESS there are some tricks how can you solve the problem with ERROR U99. If this tricks give no result you must change the digital board. If is this second I think that there are no mathematic to order this board from PANASONIC,you can find on E-Bay complete unit for 25-30 USA $ + transport costs.

Look I have one question for you :
can you find for me a company in INDIA which produce ~220V monophase servo(with build servo motor) stabilizer (2KW). I need it for my workshop for my computers.
Look I have found many factory's in INDIA witch produce this unit on Internet but I don't no nothing about quality.Everybody tell that his product  is the best and when you buy it than you after a time can see that is no so .I have buy one a half year ago and the unit burned  after 3 months of work period.Price for spare parts and transport cost where about 80% of price for the new unit-I have discard the unit.

Have a nice day

Thanks dear friend gppera  for your reply and upload,I will go through the procedure. For your enquiry please give me 2 days time and I will get back to your requirment. Most of the stabilezer manufacturers are from small scale industry and dont produce goods upto the mark . I will find suaitable product and inform you. Also DMR-E50 and E51 are identical as I have the single manual for both models .
Thanks and regards

RAM drive is good in this set. I confirmed it by swapping it. The fault lies in Digital PCB (Confirmed). The only problem is there is no schematic for any digital PCB in any panasonic Service Manual.I wanted to swap Flash ROM from working digital PCB but if something goes wrong and if OK flash ROM currupts then very difficult situation.
Thanks.
DVD recorder without HDD(DMR-ES15) costs aboutUS$250
