Hi to all,
I have a HP 1702 17" that after a 10 mins of power on, begin a corruption in the lower part of the screen.
It seems that, only on the lower part of the screen, the image goes up and down frequently in about 1 mm.
The rest of the screen are good, and the backlight is OK. I try to replace all the capacitors of the Inverter/Power board without fixing it.
Freezing the IC on the main board (PWB-0706-01 M1) U6 (MST8111B) fixes the problem for a couple of minutes.
Thanks for any suggestion.
Sorry for bad english  Sad
Bye.

sounds like it is actualy the ic you are freezing which is the problem or a component close by...try shielding the ic so you only freeze the ic....if this shows the ic is faulty then only by replacement will this cure the fault. or you could try reflowing the ic first to see if that works.....but too me sounds like you have already found the problem and need the ic replaceing...if it is a regular smd ic and you can solder ok you try using chipquick...google it....

Thank you very much Terminator2k2 Smiley
I will try to shielding the IC and freezing.
I am waiting for the Hot Air unit to try resoldering.
Some times if i press the IC with a finger, the problem seems to fix.
I think is a soldering problem. I will try to reflowing the IC and i will let you Know the results.
Thanks another time for the quick answer.
Ciao.

Hi,
 the Air unit is arrived.
I Try to reflowing the IC and now it seems that the defects comes in the middle of the screen not in the bottom.
I think i have to redo soldering with some soldering cream, but it is many years that i didn't use the hot air unit.
If the problem has changed reflowing, i think it is surely the IC bad soldering.
Thanks, i will post the results.
Bye

Hello,
finally i can fix the problem.
I have to reflow the IC with hot air, and then with the Iron Solder, i redo all SMD (SMT) contacts on resistor, caps and others ICs on the Main Board. This fix the problem.
Thanks for all suggestions.
Bye.

Hi to all, i have to Update this Topic because i found that the solution works only on some Boards.
On other board seems that there is a bad connection or something like that because if i press the board near the main IC the problem seems to fix.
I also see that if i put the refresh rate to 75, the problem incrase. If i let the video at 60 the problem is less.
I try to replace quatzs but didn't help.
Thanks for any suggestion.
Bye
