I have got HP scanjet 2300C which works well as far as the scanning is conserned. The only problem with this model is When the document is scaned, every time it takes time and diplays 'WARMING UP THE LAMP'.It is ok if it warming up the lamp at the time of powering on but for every document it scans,it always go for warming up.which takes very long time if I want to scan more documents as for every document it takes about a minute for warming up. and you know if I want to scan a service manual of a camera which contains about 250 pages ,i need to spend whole day. Is there any firmware update for this or can warming up the lamp can be bypassed to get fast scanning? Thanks and regards

From the first day of use, the scanner's behaviour was like this and I have got 2 same scanners. At the time of purchase while getting demonstration also it was working in that manner only. When cotacted HP ,they said that this is usual in this model to warm up the lamp at every scan.I asked the service engineer that as soon as you power on the scanner, the lamps glows immidiatly then why warming up needed? He did not have the satisfactory answer ,that is why I requested members if anybody have solution for this. According to HP ,this is not a problem but normal operation of scanner. Will driver update solve this problem? Thanks

Hi Tammu, One question in both scanner do the same thing happens?. It is normal once it ignites then during the scanning of documents is not necessary that the hot lamp on unless there is a pause and activate energy star. Try to reinstall the software provide with the scanner.
In other hand ,i think it is a firmware problem..., also in the high frequency circuit of the lamp as being thermistor. Send a mail technical support in USA HP because I share your opinion as to the answer that received. Best regards.

Usually Scanjets have very few mechanical parts available-mostly are exchange-only units.

In this scanner no part is faulty, some software issue has to be there because this is happening from day one to both the scanners.
