don't have origanal remote.tryed programables rca d770 / rca rcu800 / and radio shack 3 in 1 catalog # 15-2147. tryed all the codes. none of them turn on the vcr. it plays and records from buttons on the unit. could it be a bad remote sensor in unit? or sony's sensors are not compatible with remotes?

Have you tried ALL codes under BOTH DVD and VCR functions?
